WASHINGTON (May 13, 2011) ? The American Cancer Society today announced ICF International, a leading provider of consulting services and technology solutions to government and commercial clients, as a corporate sponsor of the inaugural Cure By Design in Washington, D.C.? Cure By Design, a high-level event that brings together the world of high fashion and the corporate community, will be held on Saturday, June 18 at the Grand Hyatt Washington at Washington Center.

Cure By Design, with Presenting Sponsor Porsche Cars North America, will feature cancer survivor models walking the runway in the latest fashions, along with an elegant reception and exciting live and silent auctions as the American Cancer Society and its guests celebrate cancer survivorship. All proceeds from the event will benefit the American Cancer Society and its fight against cancer.

?We are delighted to welcome ICF as a sponsor of our first Cure By Design in Washington, D.C.,? said John Lazar, the Society?s Vice President for the National Capital Area. ?ICF has a reputation of giving back to the communities it serves. By being a sponsor of Cure By Design, ICF is helping the people who live in the D.C. area while also helping the American Cancer Society advance its mission of eliminating cancer as a major health threat. We are deeply grateful for ICF?s support.?

?ICF is pleased to support the American Cancer Society?s Cure By Design as a corporate sponsor,? said Faith Welling, director of corporate responsibility for ICF International. ?Cancer strikes people of all ages and backgrounds, and we know that many of our own employees and their families, along with our customers, have been touched by cancer. We are proud to be a part of Cure By Design and to support the American Cancer Society in its quest to create a world with less cancer and more birthdays for everyone.?

Cure by Design, developed and coordinated by well-known designer Alex Garfield, brings together the fashion, design and retail communities with the local corporate community to benefit the American Cancer Society.?The focus of this special evening is a fashion show that spotlights designer fashions and, more importantly, the cancer survivors who model them. The survivor models demonstrate the progress being made in the fight against cancer and send a message of hope for a cure.

Photographing Cure By Design will be renowned fashion photographer Michael Vonal, who is donating his services to the American Cancer Society for the evening. Vonal is chief editorial photographer for a magazine in the D.C. metro area and the official photographer of the Miss District of Columbia U.S. and Miss Maryland U.S.

Tickets for the reception and fashion show are $200 apiece or $2,000 for 10. To purchase tickets or for further information, visit www.curebydesigndc.org or contact Janice Reardon at janice.reardon@cancer.org.

About the American Cancer Society

The American Cancer Society combines an unyielding passion with nearly a century of experience to save lives and end suffering from cancer. As a global grassroots force of more than three million volunteers, we fight for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. We save lives by helping people stay well by preventing cancer or detecting it early; helping people get well by being there for them during and after a cancer diagnosis; by finding cures through investment in groundbreaking discovery; and by fighting back by rallying lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and by rallying communities worldwide to join the fight. As the nation?s largest nongovernmental investor in cancer research, contributing more than $3.4 billion, we turn what we know about cancer into what we do. As a result, more than 11 million people in America who have had cancer and countless more who have avoided it will be celebrating birthdays this year. To learn more about us or to get help, call us any time, day or night, at 1-800-227-2345 or visit cancer.org.
