It is important for dyslexics to read as much as possible. So encourage them to read material of their choice like comic books, newspapers, magazines etc. Gradually they can improve their reading skills this way.

Hi-Lo Books

There are books available specifically for dyslexics called hi-lo books. These have a high interest level and low reading level. These books have short chapters and the language is simple to help dyslexics.

Audio books

Audio books

Turn on an audio book and ask the dyslexic child to read simultaneously from a physical book. This will improve their word recognition and help them understand how letters and words are grouped together.

Family reading night

Family reading night

Ask your family members to give up watching TV for one night in a week and instead have a family reading night. All the family members can read loudly or silently. Thus, your family? can be a great role model for the dyslexic child.
