(AP) ? The start of the school year in several Alaska communities is on hold after a small plane carrying all three teachers for a tiny village crashed in the wilderness, killing one of the teachers just days before classes were set to begin.

The pilot also died when the Cessna 207 went down Saturday night as it headed to the community of Anvik in Alaska's interior.

Iditarod School District superintendent Karen Ladegard says officials will meet Monday to decide when classes will begin in the seven-school district. Classes were set to start Wednesday, but Ladegard says that schedule is canceled.

The dead are identified as Anvik teacher Julia Walker and pilot Ernie Chase.

Survivors of the crash are teachers Don and Rosemarie Evans, and their children Donny and McKenzie.
