Hello friends! Best Friend Rand here with a nice little review for you. Over the past couple days while work is slow I?ve been playing Sonic CD on my Galaxy Note. For the first time too! My parents never got me a Sega CD, even though I harped at them constantly for one. I gotta say I?m loving it, but then classic Sonic is best Sonic. We all know the newer 3D ones aren?t so great (with the exception of Sonic Adventure 1/2).
It?s still?frustrating?as ever, going at top speeds with a lot of rings and then BAM one enemy ruins it all! I?m so happy I haven?t flung my $500 phone against the wall, although it has been tempting. For fans of the original version you won?t really notice much of a difference in the gameplay, although there are a few updates I will mention. For one, you have the ability to choose between the American and Japanese soundtracks, so if you feel like getting down with the land of the rising sun?s music, boy are you in for a treat! It does still include the original anime style opening, terrible music and all! Obviously the graphics have been cleaned up a bit and it has been formatted for widescreen rather than the ye old square box.
It will support game pads if your particular device will allow. Some of the other reviews I?ve seen say it controls better if you use a pad, I haven?t had any issues using touch screen controls myself. Maybe if I get a little un-lazy I?ll bluetooth my PS3 controller to it and try it out, but I doubt that I will, ha ha. It does slightly slow down the?game play?if you?re using touch controls to help mediate between the lack of response. For a few added bonuses, you can use a Sonic 2 style spin attack or stick with the regular style. Once you beat the game you will be given the option to play as Sonic or Tails, for all you Tails fans I know this will be the cream to your corn.
I would definitely say if you?re a Sonic fan this would be one to get down and purchase. Especially if you?re like me and never got to play it. It?s only $4.99 on the Google Play store, and it is available on PSN, Xbox Live Arcade, and iOS as well. Get to playing it!
