Animal Control: Pets shouldn't share Thanksgiving meal ? Wheaton ...

Post a story

As families prepare for a feast Thursday, DuPage County Animal Control is reminding residents to avoid sharing the meal with beloved pets.

Officials caution owners against giving pets poultry bones, which can choke them or splinter and tear their organs, or turkey skin or fat from? a ham, which can cause diarrhea, vomiting or pancreatitis, according to a statement released Wednesday.

Chocolate should also not be given to pets because it contains the chemical theobromine, which is poisonous to dogs.

For more information on pet safety, call DuPage County Animal Control in Wheaton at 630-407-6033.
